Most people in positions of authority want to lead their teams well. Few people of them have had much help building the specific skill set necessary to lead. Most of them are promoted based on their individual performance and not on their aptitude or desire to lead others. For these reasons, many people find themselves in positions of authority who are not necessarily good leaders, through no fault of their own.
